U P teachers protest

I disagree with the Yogi government's approach to education. I too have studied in a primary school up to class 5, but back then, teachers only had to teach, not perform various other tasks.Today, primary school teachers in Uttar Pradesh are burdened with numerous responsibilities, making their job extremely challenging.

"If a student is not coming to school, then they are forcibly caught in the village and brought to school, their clothes are getting washed, their Aadhaar cards are being made, and so on. The situation is such that today, a primary school teacher is doing all the work except teaching."

In other words, the article is highlighting how primary school teachers in Uttar Pradesh are being burdened with various non-teaching tasks, such as:

- Forcing absent students to attend school
- Washing students' clothes
- Creating Aadhaar cards for students

Instead of focusing solely on teaching, teachers are being asked to perform these additional tasks, which is affecting their ability to provide quality education to their students.

The education department has set targets for officials to harass teachers, forcing them to commit suicide. Morning visits by officials for "recovery" have become a norm, with teachers being threatened and intimidated. A primary teacher in my area was suspended for being late due to his son's accident, and eventually, he committed suicide. When teachers went on strike, the responsible BEO was transferred, but the plight of teachers continues.

The government is adamant about online attendance, but the infrastructure in rural areas is inadequate. The "Manav Sampada Portal" is often non-functional, and teachers face difficulties uploading data. The government should address these issues before enforcing online attendance.

Teachers are also demanding equal leave benefits, Old Pension Scheme (OPS), and exemption from non-teaching duties. The government should consider their demands and improve the education system in Uttar Pradesh.

In conclusion, the Yogi government's approach to education is misguided, and teachers are suffering due to its harsh policies. I urge the government to reconsider its stance and work towards improving the education system in Uttar Pradesh.
